PASSPORT & VISAS: GETTING THERE

The two international airports in Costa Rica, are the Juan Santamaria in San Jose or Daniel Oduber in Liberia. The nearest airport to Puntarenas, where both ships are located is the Juan Santamaria, and is just 1.5 hours from the dock. Travel time is approximately 3 hours from Liberia.

The only European airline that has direct flights is Iberia, offering daily service from Madrid to San Jose, and its duration is about 11 hours on average. From the US, many airlines offer flights to Costa Rica, both Liberia and San Jose.

It is recommended to spend the night in San Jose, before travelling to Puntarenas, to avoid any issues with air travel. The hotels that we recommend are the Holiday Inn at the Plaza Tempo Escazu, and the Indigo on Lindora road, Santa Ana. The departure times of our vessels depend on the tides so please check when booking.

To travel to Costa Rica, you will need a passport with at least 6 months validity.  Europeans, Americans and Canadians do not require a visa, but it is the responsibility of each traveler, to check your country’s regulations for entry into Costa Rica.
